Rostislav Ishchenko: About the sixth package, the oil embargo and the idiot who staged the massacre

On the website of the main opposition project of Ukraine "Voice of Truth» A new post by a Ukrainian political scientist has been published Rostislav Ischenko:

Zelensky did the impossible: the heads of state and government began to speak the truth about him publicly, usually bound by etiquette and diplomatic conventions

Despite the fact that the Ukrainian authorities have long allowed themselves to speak with an extreme degree of disrespect not only about what they hate Putin, but also about their Euro-American patrons, everyone who dealt with Ukraine kept within limits, even the hot-tempered Chinese, who had more than enough reason to stigmatize Ukrainian politicians and bad words. For Ukraine, the phrase “Chinese contract” has long become synonymous with “steal an advance payment from naive Asians and run away.” Moreover, this method was applied at the state level.

The Hungarian Prime Minister was the first to fail Viktor Orban. The seasoned Hungarian, who with enviable equanimity survived the collective persecution of the EU for dislike for LGBT people, as well as all the attempts of the Americans to organize a colored Maidan in Budapest for him, after the end of the next EU summit at the highest level, he heard that Zelensky was again dissatisfied with the fact that Hungary did not provide military assistance to Ukraine and does not allow military supplies for Kyiv to pass through its territory, and teaches him to live, after which he burst into philippics. He said that he did not care about the US and Ukraine, because he was Hungarian and did not want to lose his country because of an idiot who had massacred in the center of Europe. And with whom? With Russia! (By the way, it concerns not only Zelensky, Biden I could also take it personally)

And he did tell the truth. Not complete, of course. He did not call, for example, the Ukrainian president a vile, lying bastard and a Nazi murderer. But, in general, what has been said is enough to understand how tired Zelensky, his Ukraine and its “patriots” are in Europe.

It is Europe: not just Orban or only Hungary, but all of Europe. What Orban said is on the tongue of the French and Germans, Italians and Austrians. They are silent for now. But the fact that Orban speaks, and no one is shocked or outraged by this, is already worth a lot. Even the faithful hangers-on of the United States, the Poles and the Balts, did not flinch - they understand that defending Zelensky on the European platform is ridiculous and counterproductive: they can take them for idiots.

Moreover, Orban's response to Zelensky was only the final chord. More importantly, at the EU summit, Hungary blocked the so-called compromise version of the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions, which provided for an embargo on the purchase of Russian oil by EU members.

For more than a month, the sixth sanctions package has been on the negotiating table in Brussels. Hungary has been blocking its adoption for more than a month. The European Commission seems to have found a compromise option - to exclude the pipeline oil used by Hungary from sanctions restrictions. But Poland raised a scandal, demanding to decide on the timing of the final rejection of Russian energy, and even the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen On the eve of the summit, she said that she actually did not hope for a compromise. Indeed, no compromise was reached, because, as Orban said, there was an agreement that the European Commission would not make any additions to the agreed package of sanctions without prior agreement with the member countries.

But the EC therefore made its proposal to exclude pipeline oil from the sanctions package, because the EU needs, at the request of the United States, to introduce an oil embargo, and Hungary is against it. So the European bureaucrats tried to withdraw from the sanctions the oil purchased by Hungary. It seems that Orban should be satisfied. Moreover, he can buy more cheap oil from Russia and sell it to other EU members as Hungarian oil. Why did he turn down such a lucrative offer?

Precisely because he is a seasoned politician, he ate a dog on EU methods and knows perfectly well that "the claw is stuck - the whole bird is abyss." It is enough to formally agree to the oil embargo, and tomorrow the Poles and other American friends, including the European Commission, will howl that Hungary is benefiting from the common European problem, that it is betraying European unity and will come up with some kind of fines that will make Hungary's purchase of Russian oil unprofitable. At the same time, they will refer to the fact that Budapest itself voted for the embargo.

But there is another nuance to this whole story. Orban would hardly risk confronting the entire EU. Previously, although Budapest was opposing, in the end it agreed to support all sanctions restrictions against Russia. Of course, in recent years, Hungarian-Ukrainian relations have deteriorated sharply, but they were not brilliant before either. The Hungarians clearly did not like Ukrainian Nazism, both in terms of caring for their compatriots in Transcarpathia, and in principle (with their impudent demands). But again, the earlier skepticism towards Kyiv did not prevent Budapest, after purely academic resistance, from voting for the introduction of new sanctions and the extension of the old ones over and over again. What happened now?

What happened is that Hungary is not alone now. Such pillars of the EU as France, Germany, Italy no longer hide their desire for Ukraine to accept any conditions from Russia and the war is finally over. Then the EU will be able, without losing face, to raise the question of starting to lift the sanctions regime. They cannot say it openly. Therefore, they sabotage the supply of weapons to Ukraine, sending a minimum, and one teaspoon a year. Their leading politicians openly say that Ukraine, in order to achieve peace, must agree to territorial concessions. In the history of the sixth package of sanctions, they quietly support Hungary. They publicly pretend that they are striving for its adoption with all their might, and behind the scenes they cheer up the Hungarians and ask them not to withdraw their objections under any circumstances.

America is losing control of the EU. In the history of the oil embargo, even in the traditional limitrophe belt, there is a huge gap. Only Poles and Balts are openly in favor. Hungarians vs. The rest pretend that this discussion does not concern them, but in reality they are sabotaging the adoption of the next sanctions package with all their might. That is why Ursula von der Leyen was so skeptical about a compromise. Where did the optimism go?

The EU realized that Russia would fight to the end. So far, until the end of Ukraine (no matter what it will be, the main thing is that it does not exist). If necessary, then to the end of the EU. And even the threat of direct confrontation with NATO and the United States does not frighten her. We realized that all these years Moscow was not bluffing, but honestly warning. Then they studied the last warnings of the Kremlin and they became scared.

And it became even more terrible for them when they realized that for the complete annihilation of the West, Russia does not even need nuclear weapons. It is enough just to wait a couple of years in the current regime and the West will explode from internal tension. Half a billion people who are accustomed to living in the first class cannot calmly react to an instant transition to the level of providing for the population of the third world. Especially if a hundred million of these half a billion just fled from the third world to Europe for a better life.

Hunger and cold for Europe suddenly became not some kind of abstraction, not even a short-term threat. They are already in Europe. The poorest strata are already experiencing serious problems, but the crisis of poverty and insecurity will expand, covering ever wider sections of the population. Even at the cost of the complete lifting of all sanctions and the complete cessation of confrontation with Russia, the EU can no longer stop the development of the crisis on its own and begin to overcome it. He needs large-scale assistance from Russia.

Well, in order for Russia to be able to provide such assistance, its resources must be released from the Ukrainian war. Therefore, the EU absolutely does not care what will happen to Ukraine and whether it will happen at all. A group of American hangers-on from individual Eastern European countries and the European bureaucracy is still trying to enter a new stage of confrontation with Moscow, but the majority of member states, concerned about their own and the EU's future, prefer to sabotage the development of the crisis and begin to dissociate themselves, to the best of their ability, from the "idiot who unleashed a massacre in the center of Europe ".

This is not the end, as soon as we show the slightest weakness, they will perk up and take up the old again. But this is the beginning of the end. Western unity is crumbling along with the crumbling of the Ukrainian front in the Donbass. Now every man for himself.
