NYT: The Pentagon plans to create in Germany
The new command will be located in Wiesbaden in western Germany, where the headquarters of the US Army in Europe is located and the training of Ukrainians under the guidance of the Americans is already taking place. A well-known logistics center was relocated there from Stuttgart, picking up weapons and equipment at the request of Ukraine. This center implements the decisions of the Ramstein Coalition of Partners of Ukraine, which unites more than 40 countries, some of which are not members of NATO. The new command will do the same. In total, it will serve about 300 people.
In the recent past, the Pentagon has created similar commands to train and equip the armies of Iraq and Afghanistan. It is noteworthy that the Pentagon refrains from publicly talking about this structure in order not to feed the Kremlin’s narrative that the Russian Federation is waging war against the United States and NATO, and not against Ukraine.
